Went to go to the King Tut exhibit at the Museum of Art. I was disappointed in a few things. First, they said I hadn't paid for audio tickets when I ahd so I had to go clear that up. Then, they said I had to use a port o potty instead of indoor bathrooms. Yuk. Then even though we had a scheduled time, they let so many people in at the same time that I had to rush through and push people out of the way to see the exhibit.
Other than that, the collection, of course, was amazing. Everything was temperature controlled. Everything was so ornate-- every surface covered in beauty and writing. There were pieces decorated in the most beautiful robin's egg blue... not even robin's egg...an unexplainable beautiful blue. It's amazing how these pieces have lasted so long.
The stuff I saw corresponded with a lot of things that author Zecheria Sitchin said in his book (see review section). Very interesting. As I looked at the descriptions of various pieces, I felt like none of it was true. It could be interpreted differently...as Sitchin does.
The audio tape was narrated by Omar Sharif (too lazu right now to check spelling on that). I didn't feel his descriptions were that compelling and they only corresponded with a few pieces-- not the whole exhibit. I don't think it added to it.
I was also disappointed that the actual tut sarcophogus was no there. But there was the sarcophogus of someone else.
But I enjoyed the film about the autopsy of King Tut and about the sarcophogus. The initial film was too brief, although a good idea.
Anyway, the exhbit was both long and short all at once and overall definitely worth seeing. After all, how often do you get a peek 3300 years in the past?
Do you hear the mummies talking?
By the way, despite the cheesiness of the idea of Jordan Frasier, I really like the movie "Mummy" and Mummy 2. I've seen them several times.
